One week from today, many of us will be at the Library Marketing and Communications Conference (LMCC) in Indianapolis.
Whenever I think about LMCC, I always feel a sense of honor and gratitude. Here’s why. Back in 2018, when nobody knew I was planning to leave my job and start a consulting business, then-president Jennifer Burke reached out and asked me to be the LMCC keynote speaker. As I was wresting with the uncertainties and impostor feelings that always plague me when starting a new endeavor, this vote of confidence from the LMCC Board meant the world to me.
That entire conference in Saint Louis felt like a dream. A surprise snowstorm hit the city, and I remember walking around feeling like it was magic. Somehow, it gave me the courage to keep going, even in the face of my own fears.
I will always be grateful to the LMCC for welcoming me that year. Now, it’s my hope that this year’s LMCC will have that same magical effect on a new group of people who want to learn, grow and face and overcome their own challenges.
