CAC Updates Feb 12 2025

Dear friends and colleagues,

I had the most amazing time last week. From Tuesday through Friday, I attended four Staff Days on four different islands, and had the honor of meeting with hundreds of staff members from the Hawaiʻi State Public Library System (HSPLS).

These Staff Days sessions were the culmination of eight months of work with an amazing consulting team and library system. Together with The Kālaimoku Group and Ken Magas Design, we’ve been working on a community engagement and branding project with HSPLS, focused on the library’s history, future, and brand.

We had the opportunity to highlight the library’s role in shaping the community, and shared the results of a surveys and focus groups aimed at understanding what people value most about the libraries. We also discussed the library’s Brand Story and Brand Promise.

Participants engaged in discussions and exercises to explore how their daily work embodies the brand story and to generate questions that will help shape the rollout of the new brand story and identity. The event concluded with staff recognition, a look at the implementation timeline, and an interactive closing activity.

I am so excited to see how this library system will continue to thrive and flourish with this new and expanded effort to increase awareness and usage of HSPLS. They are already doing great work!
