Coming Soon to CAC Academy: Making Simple Impactful Videos Using Google Earth Studio

Most libraries don’t have drone footage.
Most libraries don’t have video budgets.

But every library has something incredibly powerful: place.

Coming soon to CAC Academy, I’ll be releasing a new tutorial: Scroll-Stopping Library Videos with Google Earth Studio.

This training walks through how to create quick, cinematic social media videos that highlight your library’s presence in the community — no expensive equipment required.

In this tutorial, I cover:

  • Why geographic storytelling strengthens perception and legitimacy
  • How to create simple zoom animations using Google Earth Studio
  • How to quickly edit and brand your video in Canva
  • Audio choices, copyright and attribution considerations
  • Captioning, accessibility, and built-in platform tools
  • Using AI (if your policies allow) to draft platform-specific captions

These videos are not meant to be complicated. They’re meant to be intentional.

A 10–15 second zoom from globe to neighborhood can visually communicate something powerful: your library is embedded in the community it serves.

Here’s a recent example of how I used these tools to make a reel highlighting a recent project: https://youtube.com/shorts/KVJyx0NUtj8

If you’ve been looking for a way to elevate your social media presence without elevating your budget, or spending hours at your computer, this tutorial is for you.

And that’s not the only new content coming to CAC Academy. I also have a new guest expert tutorial in development — more details soon.

Stay tuned!
