CAC Academy: Looking Back at 2025 and Planning for 2026

As we close out the year, I’ve been reflecting on how much CAC Academy has grown — not just in numbers, but in depth, reach, and impact. When we launched the Full Academy option in 2023, my hope was to create an easy subscription model for libraries to access practical, library-specific training anytime, anywhere. What’s happened since then has exceeded my expectations.

More Libraries, More Teams, More Impact

Since we launched the Full Academy, 10 libraries and organizations have subscribed – and that doesn’t include the individuals who have signed up for access. The 10 include:

  • California Libraries Learn (CALL)
  • Clifton Park–Halfmoon Public Library
  • Keene Memorial Library
  • Lake County Library System
  • Milwaukee Public Library
  • Northampton Area Public Library
  • Portage la Prairie Library
  • Southeastern Florida Library Information Network
  • Southwest Florida Library Network
  • Weber County Library System

Seeing so many libraries incorporate CAC Academy into their staff development plans reinforces something I believe deeply: library marketing and communications is a skill set worth investing in.

More Content, More Voices — Still No Price Increases

In 2025, we added new tutorials, updated resources, and a brand-new Guest Experts series to expand the perspectives and insights available to learners.

This year’s additions include:

  • Multiple new tutorials
  • Updated slide decks, worksheets, and templates
  • 10+ hours of on-demand video
  • Closed captions and transcripts for accessibility
  • Practical tools that help staff build strategy, improve messaging, streamline workflows, and strengthen branding

And in our first Guest Experts installment, we welcomed Dr. Curtis Rogers, whose 35+ years of library experience brought valuable depth to the Academy. His trainings layered into the existing content and have been well received.

Through all this growth, one thing hasn’t changed: we have not raised prices for individuals, teams, or consortia. Affordability and accessibility remain core commitments.

What Learners Are Saying

The feedback from staff across the country has been inspiring — and a reminder of why this work matters.

Here are just a few comments from 2025:

“This course was very informative! Thank you!”

“I always enjoy your trainings and webinars! Thank you!”

“This was a very useful training, which I will most certainly utilize in my position as a social media editor/content creator with my library.”

“I can use my Marketing Degree with my Library Science work experience to help our patrons!”

“Made a lot of good and interesting points about how… our time as marketers is spent.”

These reflections capture what we aim for with every tutorial: practical tools, real-world examples, and immediately applicable strategies.

Looking Ahead to 2026

We’re already planning new tutorials, expanded tools, and additional Guest Experts for 2026 — continuing to build an ever-stronger resource for library marketers, communicators, and leaders. Every addition is guided by one central question: What would help library staff build confidence, strengthen strategy, and save time? That remains at the heart of CAC Academy, because I was once a library marketer myself, and I remember what it was like for me and my peers.

Thank You

If you’ve been part of CAC Academy — whether as a learner, a subscriber, a colleague, or someone who shared the resource with others — thank you. Your work inspires this training, and your feedback helps shape what comes next.
