I’m happy to share that two new tutorials are now available on CAC Academy, each designed to help library staff build practical skills they can put to use right away.
The two new offerings cover very different topics, but both are grounded in the same goal: helping libraries communicate more effectively and move important work forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Simple but Scroll-Stopping Library Videos Using Google Earth Studio & Canva
This new tutorial explores how to use Google Earth Studio and Canva to create quick, engaging social media videos for your library.
Libraries do not always have access to drone footage, large production budgets, or advanced editing tools. But they do have something incredibly powerful: place. In this tutorial, I walk through how to use geographic storytelling to create short videos that highlight your library’s presence in the community and help reinforce relevance, legitimacy, and connection.
We cover the basics of:
- geographic storytelling
- simple animation techniques
- audio choices
- captioning and accessibility
- and ways to use AI tools to help draft platform-specific captions
The goal is not perfection. It is to create videos that are simple, effective, and doable for real-world library staff.
5 Key Elements of Successful Library Projects
I’m also excited to share a new guest expert tutorial from Jami Yazdani.
In this webinar, Jami shares five key elements that help library projects succeed: scope, stakeholders, communications, deliverables, and schedule. She offers practical strategies for helping teams stay focused, engage the right people, and move projects from idea to completion.
This is a strong session for library leaders and staff who are managing projects that involve multiple people, shifting priorities, and a lot of moving parts. If you have ever felt like a good idea lost momentum somewhere between planning and execution, this tutorial offers a helpful framework for keeping work on track.
Why These Topics Matter
One of the things I care about most in CAC Academy is offering training that is both strategic and practical.
Libraries need ideas, but they also need tools. They need inspiration, but they also need workflows. They need ways to communicate more clearly, manage projects more effectively, and build internal confidence around marketing and leadership work.
These two new tutorials speak to that from different angles — one through visual storytelling and digital content, and the other through project planning and execution. And that is very much by design.
The topics in CAC Academy are not random. They reflect the full range of work that libraries are navigating every day, from high-level strategy and organizational thinking to practical tools and effective tactics. Libraries need both. They need a clear sense of direction, but they also need realistic, useful ways to bring that direction to life through projects, communications, and everyday decisions.
That broader mix is part of what CAC Academy is meant to offer: training that helps library staff think strategically, communicate effectively, and execute with confidence.
I hope you’ll check them out!
