We’re thrilled to congratulate our client, Massanutten Regional Library (MRL), on being named the 2025 Library of the Year by the Virginia Library Association! This prestigious award honors MRL’s outstanding community engagement, innovative programming, and unwavering commitment to serving the diverse needs of its patrons.
Earlier this year, MRL was also recognized as Nonprofit of the Year by the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce — a well-deserved acknowledgment of their leadership and impact in the local community.
A Year of Remarkable Achievements
In 2024, MRL achieved significant milestones:
- Conducted over 2,400 programs and outreach activities, reaching a record 50,382 participants.
- Increased Summer Reading Challenge registration by 25%, with over 5,800 readers and more than 2.5 million minutes read.
- Achieved an 18% increase in circulation, totaling nearly 865,000 items checked out.
Our Work With MRL
Cordelia Anderson Consulting has had the privilege of partnering with MRL on a fundraising and advancement assessment. Our collaboration is focused on enhancing MRL’s fundraising strategies to support its expanding programs and services. For this project, we’ve been working with MRL’s leadership and advancement teams, as well as my co-consultant, Karen Beach. We had the privilege of touring several of MRL’s branches earlier this summer, where we saw the impact of this innovative library firsthand!
Looking Ahead
MRL’s recognition as Library of the Year — along with their earlier Nonprofit of the Year honor — is a testament to the power of community-focused libraries. We are excited to continue supporting MRL and other libraries in their journey to create meaningful impact and foster lifelong learning.
